How your information is handled across Python's Den services

Effective: September 15, 2026 Binding on all Python’s Den services Terms of Service

This Privacy Policy applies to all services I build and operate under Python's Den:

Discord Bots (Weather Bot, Vortex Bot, Gambler Bot) Python's Den Chat Vortex Radar SkyWatch pythonsden.net, including the servers page AO3 Client (Android) git.pythonsden.net

1 What Data I Collect

What's collected depends on which service you use:

Discord Bots

User Information: Discord user IDs and usernames
Guild Information: Server (guild) IDs, names, and channel IDs where commands are used
Command Input: Command names, options, and arguments (e.g., locations)
Metadata: Timestamps, interaction logs, and system performance details
Temporary Caching: API responses (e.g., weather scan results) cached briefly for performance

Python's Den Chat not yet live

Python's Den Chat has not launched, so none of the data below is being collected from anyone today. This section is published in advance so the policy is already in place when it opens.

Account Information: username, email address, and a bcrypt-hashed password (I never store your password in plain text)
Messages: messages and direct messages you send, including uploaded files and images
Presence: online/offline and typing status, timestamps

Python's Den Chat will be invite-only, so this data will only be visible within the server(s) you're a member of — not the public internet.

Vortex Radar

No account or personal data: Vortex Radar runs entirely in your browser. It uses local storage only for UI preferences (like dismissing a notice), and fetches public weather data (NEXRAD, METAR, lightning) directly from third-party sources as part of normal use.

SkyWatch

No account or personal data: SkyWatch has no sign-in and keeps no record of who visits it.
Camera (optional): if you turn on the camera view, your browser asks your permission first and the video is displayed in the page only. It is never uploaded, recorded, or sent to my servers. Your choice of camera is remembered in your own browser's local storage so you don't have to pick it again.
Shared station feeds: the list of air traffic feeds is maintained by me and is the same for everyone. Visitors can browse and listen to it but cannot add or remove entries, so using SkyWatch leaves nothing of yours on the server.
Flight data: aircraft positions are fetched by my own server from public ADS-B sources, so your browser never contacts those providers.

This Website

No account: browsing pythonsden.net, including the servers page, requires no sign-in. The servers page reports only the state of my own hardware — processor, memory and uptime — and nothing about you.
Request logs: the site reaches you through Cloudflare, which means my own server records the tunnel's address rather than yours. Cloudflare sees visitor IP addresses as part of delivering the site and handles them under its own privacy practices.

AO3 Client runs on your device

Nothing reaches me: the AO3 Client runs entirely on your own Android device. I operate no server for it and receive no data from it whatsoever — no accounts, no usage reporting, no crash reports. It contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind.
Stays on your device: your library, downloaded works, and reading position are stored locally on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
Talks only to AO3: the app communicates directly with Archive of Our Own, and nowhere else. Anything you do there — including signing in — is between you and AO3, under their privacy practices.

git.pythonsden.net

No public accounts: registration is closed, so there is nothing for a visitor to sign up to. Public repositories can be browsed and cloned anonymously.

Contact Form

Contact Requests: if you use the contact form on pythonsden.net, your name, email, and message are relayed via Formspree to reach me directly — not stored on my own servers. Formspree processes that message under its own privacy practices.
I do not collect:
  • Payment information — none of these services currently charge money
  • Discord direct messages or message history outside of the Bots' own server channels
  • Any data unrelated to the operation of these services

2 How I Use Your Data

Data is used solely to:

  • Provide and maintain each service (respond to commands, authenticate chat accounts, render radar data)
  • Maintain cooldowns and prevent spam or abuse
  • Log interactions for debugging, diagnostics, and support
  • Improve functionality and track performance
I do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

3 Data Retention

Discord bot logs and metadata: retained for up to 30 days for debugging and analytics.

Cached bot data (e.g., weather scan results): typically retained under an hour.

Chat accounts and messages: retained as long as your account exists, and deleted within a reasonable time after account deletion.

Vortex Radar: nothing is retained on my servers — it's entirely client-side.

SkyWatch: no personal data is retained, and visitors cannot store anything on the server. The shared feed list is mine to maintain and is kept until I change it; camera video is never stored at all.

This website: no visitor data is retained on my own server; Cloudflare's logs are governed by its retention practices.

AO3 Client: nothing is retained by me, because nothing ever reaches me. What the app stores lives on your device until you delete it or uninstall.

Data may be retained longer only if required by law, by Discord, or by moderation tools explicitly configured for such use.

4 Data Sharing

I will only disclose data:

  • If required by law or in response to a valid legal request
  • To protect the safety and integrity of a service
  • With the express consent of the user or server owner involved

Vortex Radar fetches public weather data directly from third-party providers (e.g., NOAA-derived sources); your browser communicates with them as part of normal use, subject to their own privacy practices — that's outside my control.

SkyWatch streams air traffic audio directly from LiveATC. When you play a feed, your browser connects to them and they receive your IP address and the usual request details, under their privacy practices rather than mine. Flight position data is fetched by my server instead, so those providers do not see you.

5 Your Rights

You may request:

  • Deletion: of log data tied to your Discord user ID, or of your Python's Den Chat account and its data
  • Data Summary: a summary of what information I have related to you

To make a request, contact me by email:

[email protected]

6 Children's Privacy

These services are not intended for users under the age of 13. If you are under 13, do not use them or provide any data.

7 How Data Is Protected

Everything described here runs on hardware I own and maintain myself rather than on rented infrastructure, and only I have administrative access to it.

  • All public traffic is served over HTTPS through Cloudflare; the machines behind it accept no inbound connections from the internet directly.
  • Passwords, once Python's Den Chat launches, are stored only as bcrypt hashes — never in plain text and never recoverable.
  • No payment details are held for any service, because nothing charges money.
  • Backups of service data are taken nightly and kept on hardware in the same place, under the same sole access.

No system is perfect, and these are personal projects rather than commercial products. Please don't put anything into them that would genuinely harm you if it leaked.

8 Changes to This Policy

  • This Policy may be updated as services change, are added, or are retired.
  • The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
  • Continued use of any service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

9 Governing Law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by the same terms as the Terms of Service.

These services are operated from Minnesota. If you use them from outside the United States, your data is handled in the United States, where privacy law may differ from your own.
